Quality Family Time without the TV

Summary: Imagine yourself as a Neanderthal. There were no televisions, no major appliances and conveniences. There was only those you loved, nature, and no television. They made it through life enjoying things to do without the influence of television and so can you!

Quality time is what a person makes it to be. To some it is getting away from his or her normal routine. While others may think of it as simply getting some extra sleep by putting off all electronic devices, divulging in treats they do not usually oblige in on a normal day, or it may mean stepping away from the television set and focusing in on loved ones, family, or friends. For each person quality time without TV means something different.

  • Enjoy the geographic area you live in. Go back to when you first arrived at your home location and envision yourself as a tourist. What would you do if your furniture has not arrived? Explore your neighborhood and check out every area that intrigues you. Many people live in wonderful cities and towns and never have an opportunity to see the beautiful place they live in. Keep the television off and enjoy yourself!
  • Make a list of things you have wanted to do but do not have time for due to your time in front of the television set. As you make your list, you may realize it seems more important than the television program were planning to see for a third time.
  • Consider recording options for your favorite television shows. Many alternative solutions have been made available to view television shows and movies that can accommodate the busiest of people. Exercise and workout to your favorite tunes while your favorite shows are being recorded.
  • Plan time with your favorite people. Make a date and have some quality time enjoying wonderful conversations with your spouse or partner, family, and friends. Learn more about those you love and care for by listening and conversing with them without interruptions.
  • Make plans to have a picnic as the weather gets better or have fun and have an indoor picnic with blankets for your living room floor or den, basket full of picnic foods, and your favorite beverages.
  • Organize some fun game nights with your family and friends. When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried when you did something silly? Wonderful family and adult games are available to challenge your intellect or let you become a child again.
  • Sit back and enjoy a novel. Read and let your mind become the backdrop of your mental television set. You may find you are the best actor out there when you allow your imagination take over.
  • Correspond with family and friends who do not live in town. An unexpected surprise can occur to someone you care about when they receive a handwritten note from you.
  • Quality time can come in some many different ways from making a simple fort for a family campout inside your home to a pleasant hike with your four legged family members. Enjoy the many treasures there are to be had without TV.
