Basic Prom Safety
Today, many schools plan after-Prom parties where adults chaperone and monitor activities to ensure a safe party. The general rule is, once you leave the party, you must sign out and you cannot return. Some parents opt to host after-Prom parties at home. If so, do not provide alcohol to teens, since that action can land you in jail. Instead, talk with your teen about his expectations of the party and allow him to help plan it, set up, and invite his friends.
Choosing a Prom Corsage
Before spending a lot of time and money on a Prom corsage, find out if the rest of the girls will be wearing one to your Prom. Talk with your date about her expectations of what her corsage should look like, and then consider adding silk flowers so that she can have a keepsake of the event.
Financing Your Prom
While you want to cut expenses and spend frugally where your Prom costs are concerned, you also don't want to be a cheap date. The hard part is over—you've found a Prom date. Work together with your date and raise the money in a joint effort by working towards your goal.
Getting a Date for Prom
Never wait until the last minute to get a date for your Prom. Girls can ask guys to the Prom, so don't let your gender hold you back. Ask a friend, church member, or schoolmate to your Prom, and outline your expectations from the get-go. That way, you'll both know what to expect and you'll have a Prom to remember the rest of your lives.
Getting to the Prom in Style
Consider the weather during your Prom season. Using a convertible with the top down, or traveling in an open carriage, would not be conducive if you live in a cold-weather climate, or if the forecasters are predicting rain or snow. Although you want to make a favorable impression on your date, ensure his or her safety at all times, and insist that they wear safety belts.
Inexpensive Prom Plans
You don't have to be the child of a millionaire to have a great time, in elegant evening wear, at your Prom. Find ways to buy or rent formalwear at discounted prices, and share costs of stylish transportation. Instead of spending a ton of money at the salon, ask a neighbor or family member to do your makeup for the evening. With a little work and ingenuity, you can find ways to cut your Prom costs, without sacrificing fun.
Non-Alcoholic Post Prom Party Ideas
To compensate for a lack of alcohol, keep your guests entirely entertained. Rent inflatable novelties and large-scale decorations. Make the party seem larger than life, and keep the food, beverages, and music at full tilt.
